Local Social Network for the Arts Community in Central Valley

Tomorrow, I hit the road early, again, for another public art tour and picture taking event. Today was just a taste, as I accompanied Bob Gifford while he did welding in prep for installing a gate designed by Chris Sorensen, at a private home. I couldn't look (it's not safe), but my camera could, and this is what it saw. Looks like a high end Fourth of July sparkler and sounds a bit like one, too.
Having grown up in Upstate NY, around farms, both old and long abandoned, I have terminal curiosity when it comes to machinery, of any kind.
I had to get a picture of Thing #1 and Thing #2. The first reminded me of an electrical octopus and the second looked like it was trying to look innocent but was probably responsible for the light show (I painted it in its presumed true colors). Thanks, Naomi, for the feedback on that one. I did graphics manipulation intensively for about four years, in the nineties, often with items I'd isolated from photographs, but I never did "wholesale messing" with images--I think somewhere in the back of my mind it equalled "sacrilege." I'm pretty sure that a lot of people who moved from film to digital wrestled with this. Work by friends on flickr has inspired me to "see it" differently and I think I've put it into a category like painting...and if your comment's any indication, I think I did it :)

Thanks for blogging... Remember when you asked me about the padding around the images/photos on the blog. Here's a work around for now...
