Looking for someone to cut odd sized mats

I have several odd sized pieces that I want to mat in simple white mat boards for art show presentations.

I need someone who would be willing to cut me some mats to quote me some prices. The sizes I need are:

inside- 8.5x14.5" (they are 9x15) and outside I guess 13x19? or a descent frame size proportionally:

inside 11.5x17.5" (12x18) and outside again what a good frame size would be.

inside 12.5x18.5 (13x19)

Some of these are art papers so no problems. However some are… Continue

Digital Art and the Color Pencil

Most of my art is color pencil, but sometimes I like to 'play' in Photoshop. My avatar is one example of that play. I scan in my art and save in Photoshop. After resizing I will add elements from pieces of that art to create a new piece. Take a photo or a scan, and play with the computer. You may be surprised at what you will get. For my avatar, I used a white iris drawing:

I rotated the iris, and made water swirls and reflections by layering… Continue

Website fun- the ups and downs of learning and managing a site.

I spent the last three days updating my website. Still need more updating, but it is better and currant, at least, mostly.

It is amazing how little things can take so long to fix. I am working in 'Dreamweaver' and am no expert by far. I have the 'learn as you go' philosophy which makes it really fun when I need to figure out things.

I was trying to do a simple thing, but it took most of the day to figure it out. The very large book that goes with the software is very informative, but… Continue

The road less traveled. A journey of pain.

I'm taking a different road than some.

I just got through 'googling' art and pain. Many paintings of gruelsome images, splotches of deep, dark colors, shapes, images. Expressions of what pain feels like. Moving the viewer to emotions of sympathy, horror and shock. It seems that many have the need to express pain in their paintings, sculptures, music and writings. A need for others to see and hear how they feel. I do empathize. I actually do understand. I live with chronic pain. The… Continue

color pencils gain art respect

The color pencil is often ignored or disregarded as a true art form. These small pieces of wood and pigments have come a long way from the school geography pencils. True art pigments are held in a wax or oil base and many companies are addressing and fixing the light-fast problems of old.

Support is as important as the pencil. Acid free, archival papers, vellums, drafting films, pastel boards and even smooth woods are used by many cp artists. Under paintings of water colors, watercolor… Continue

Getting started

I'm not good at blogging, but here goes. Maybe I'll actually have something worth sharing! lol

Who am I? (This first one will be a little long-winded, sorry in advance!)

First off, I am an artist. Born in a family of artists, I can't remember a time without art. I have always have been creative and I bring that into every aspect of my life. Whether it be gardening, running a house, raising children, working at jobs that I have had or any aspect of my life.

I've been married for… Continue
