Color, color schemes and Kuler

I recently had a big problem trying to figure out a color scheme for a project and my old resource wasn't helping so after a little looking around I found this amazing site Kuler. What a life saver, it lets you save your schemes and provides all the codes for HSV, RGB, CMYK, LAB and even HEX for the web designer. it's a great resource and i just thought I'd share it.

Call to Artist - A Great Resource

The "Call to Artist" category in our forum section serves as a great resource for all artists who are seeking to show their artwork or create pieces on commission. Recently we have the following opportunity posted:

"The Juvenile Justice Campus is seeking artists interested in producing art for their campus. This is a rare opportunity for artists to apply for this commission. A budget not to exceed $20,000 is allocated for an interior

mural, and a budget not to exceed $20,000 is… Continue

Reasons Every Artist Should Have a Flickr: Part 3

Well, I did promise a third and final entry on the topic and, here it is. This final segment covers the values of archiving and sharing your work, for professional purposes. Not quite finished, but I'll be back to edit later!

Part of my point has already been clarified so well by a video that Victor shared in response to my first blog on the topic that I'm simply going to share the link and encourage you to watch it, first, and then come back. Don't miss the section on using Tags to… Continue

Digital Art and the Color Pencil

Most of my art is color pencil, but sometimes I like to 'play' in Photoshop. My avatar is one example of that play. I scan in my art and save in Photoshop. After resizing I will add elements from pieces of that art to create a new piece. Take a photo or a scan, and play with the computer. You may be surprised at what you will get. For my avatar, I used a white iris drawing:

I rotated the iris, and made water swirls and reflections by layering… Continue
