BA in Visual & Public Art from CSUMB, 1997 - inaugural class. Knowledge of Public Arts Administrative Issues: Defining the "Public Audience" & the complications surrounding site specific work's content & intent.
Specialty in the Discourse surrounding "Content & Form", i.e. signs/signifiers - paradigms/syntagms, as they pertain to the study of Semiotics.
Fresno raised, California grown. As a student in various colleges, (including Fresno City College, Fresno State College, & CSU Monterey Bay) I studied under such professors as Robyn Bates & Anne Scheid @ FCC, Charles Gaines & Ernie Palamino @ FSU, and Johanna Poethig and Dr. Amalia Mesa-Bains @ CSUMB.
The contemporary art histories, theories, & semiotic studies of Charles Gains' courses at FSU & gallery assisted work and teachings of Dr. Amalia Mesa-Bains' have been catalytic in the development of my visual & conceptual vernacular.
Find me on Facebook! Art portfolios are there. My degree is in Large Scale Mural Design - digital & conventional, however most of my current work is more intimate, with a leaning toward found-object assemblage, painting, and installations (appropriated from various multi-cultural folk-based traditions).
Working at CSUMB in its early conversion from the former Fort Ord gave me the opportunity to intern with the University Advancement Publications Department. This expanded my knowledge of Graphic Design, Digital Imaging, and Desktop Publishing which led to several positions with the Institute for Visual and Public Art Information Technologies and Digital Mural fabrication, including a temporary spot as an Assistant Professor for Digital Arts, Figure/Life Drawing and a spot for a the Arts Lecture Series.
