Wow. I forgot about this group.  Thinking of food.  I need to lose a lot of weight and yet I seem to be eating everything.......going through a painful break up and stress, stress, stress.

Well, I came up with a plan to help me drink more water...keep a pitcher filled with water at all times and slice some citrus thinly, keep it in the water, this gives the water a better flavor! Any other ideas?

It has been a while since I have been in this group. But, I have been working on my self. I try to eat healthy and I am feeling better. I hope to continue this for the rest of my life! It feels great! I would appreciate any recipes for low cal and low fat soups and such. : )

Actually, my "diet" started with me taking care of my 1yr old grand-daughter when she and my son moved in with us. She's now 2 and doing great. I do alot more lifting and running around and have less time to eat before wanting to clean up, so as my appetite shrank- I realized I should make it a lifestyle change and stick with it. Yes, less food and more excercise is the only way to maintain weight loss. Then I bought a bunch of jeans with zippers and buttons, NO MORE ELASTIC WAIST BANDS, YEA!!

I have heard to if you breath through your mouth and not your nose it helps with the onion tears. Also if your onions are cold, from the crisper, the chilling delays the release of the enzymes that produce sulfuric acid when mixed with your tears--

Red onions seem to be more mild than the others. I use them a lot.

Thanks, Cynthia. In my part, I do not believe in drastically altering your menu in order to lose weight. Going nice and slow should be the thing for me as the body can only tolerate 1-2lbs weight loss (or weight gain) per week.

As for cutting onions, try using a fan that would direct air away from you while cutting them. I always have a fan behind me while I cut them. The fan need not be very close to you. As long as the fumes and chemicals are blown away from your face, you'll be chopping onions without the tears. :D
