Thanks to Mary Redondo for taking many of the wonderful photographs and helping out at these events. A friend can calm your nerves and help you be more creative, when you have to be in the public eye.

Alot of artists (like me) are really shy and introverted. If you are blessed with more outgoing friends it can be a real help. Bill and Mary Redondo and even their kids add fun to what can be very…Continue

Hi Sin, yes Fresno will have the Kearney Park Renaissance Faire on Nov  12 & 13. This is a great event for the whole family! They actually have Knights Jousting on Big Horses, Tilting at Rings, Sword Fighting, a Royal Court with actors portraying important people from history and so much more entertainment. They have dancers and musicians, artists, facepainting, clothing, jewelry, pottery, perfume, hand made toys and other things in all price ranges for sale (good because Christmas is not too far off.) There is also henna, hair braiding and lots of other crafts people and encampments of historical re-enactors, jugglers, magicians, great food.   I really love this faire, as well as Hanford , and especially since it it right here in FRESNO!!!  There is so much room at Kearney Park, and lots of trees, and a huge area with permanent tables and benches and a stage. Many costumed actors roam around and interact with the fair-goers. There are other stages, also around the site--so something exciting is always going on. I will be face painting there, and displaying original art and prints. I have a bean bag toss game with prints as prizes.  The toss board is made out of one of my big dragon paintings---the kids also like to pose with it for photos.  The weather is almost always wonderful, warm with fall in the air. Hope to see you there!!

Thanks for joining my group! I'll be face painting at Hanford Renaissance of Kings, Oct 1 & 2. The event is free to the public and has some great entertainment, food,  arts & crafts, dancing, swordfighting etc. My husband, Ray will be making and selling his great Hot Italian Meat Sandwiches, and I will also have art prints and a bean bag toss game for the kids. You can take the train to Hanford for a very relaxing, fun day or week-end.

I painted kids at a school carnival for the first time last Friday. Lane Elementary is a block away from my house and I walked with my two grandsons who pulled my face paint supply cart. My grandaughter (21/2) was with me and also my husband Ray (who helped set us up, then he had a meeting to go to.) It was a real good but exhausting experience, working fast with simple cheek designs because there were dozens of kids in line for the 2 hours I was there. I volunteered to help the teacher who was in charge of facepainting when I overheard her talking about it while I was returning a book  for my grandson to the office.  The next day I started re-doing my supply cart, for such spur of the moment occasions. I also painted a new design sign for fast work. The one I have for fairs, and parties involves some complicated work that a school carnival doesn't have time for. I will post a couple of photos when I get a chance. Thanks for joining my group  :)

Greetings to our new members! Please feel free to add photos and comments. I just ordered an EZ-UP director's chair for the little ones to sit on so I can paint standing up. Painting kids from a sitting position can be really hard on my back, (now that I'm not so young :)  Some children tend to slowly lean way over in one direction, then the next--or wiggle alot. Others are so intent on having a "perfect" design, that they hold still like a statue, they are all unique and mostly adorable. The Fresno Pirate Faire was a terrific event.  Too bad it rained on Sunday. Thanks to Bill and Mary Redondo, Emily and Sarah for helping out, you added alot of fun to our area! My two little grandsons Adrian and Enrique helped out in the food booth too, and did a great job!
