As an artist, I concentrate on the interconnected relationship between humans, nature, and the strong bonds between humans and animals. I focus on the bonds between man, nature and animals because I think God created all of us to be part of a whole, not just individuals. While our individuality is important, equally important is our connection to each other. I feel art should have an emotional impact on the viewer. If a painting does not evoke some type of emotion, to me it is not art; I do not care how technically perfect it may be. For myself, I also prefer my art to say something positive. We owe it to ourselves not to spread gloom and despair all over everyone! There is enough of that out in the world without artists celebrating it!
Art-Tique Mission Statement: By displaying our stuff in the libraries, we bring art to life for the general public; Historically, libraries have always been centers of arts and culture for society, and One of the things artists contribute to our community as artists is culture. we not only remind the public what talented, creative artists live here in Fresno and Clovis, but how much artists care about the community as a whole. Although it is not directly about sales, one of the ways that artists in Fresno and Clovis convince the buying public of how wonderful is our art and photography (and indirectly, promote the public to buy that art) is the community development of a reputation for being a center of art and culture. Even though artists might not make a lot of sales displaying art in the county libraries, our contributions to the art and culture of the area is immense. Sometimes we have to give before we can get.
