Local Social Network for the Arts Community in Central Valley
I hope all is well and that you enjoyed your weekend.
I am writing to let you know that we are doing a soft-launch (alpha version) of the new FresnoArts.net platform tonight. Our team at Socient has been busy coding and producing for the past couple of months. The result of our work is the Fresno Interactive Network (FIN), a platform that allows users to have a single sign-on across all participating brands (which includes FresnoArts.net, GreenFresno.org, FresnoJobs.org, etc.). The FIN platform also has multiple web applications that brands could choose to license and use for their web visitors.
FresnoArts.net is now part of this network and have acquired a license to use FIN web applications such as events, classifieds, and directory. I personally chose to have those web apps available because I think that is where the Ning platform (this social network) falls a bit short. The web apps from FIN will complement this Ning social network.
Within 24-48 hours, the new FresnoArts.net website should be generally available for everyone to see. We would like to invite you to visit and peruse the site. We have yet to finalize the "site tools", which includes managing and posting events, classifieds, and directory submission. They will be available for use by next weekend. At this time, we want to give you the opportunity to get used to the site architecture and UI; we also welcome and accept feedback to improve what we have as well.
We are going to keep the social network portion of FresnoArts.net and will still have the same web address: http://my.fresnoarts.net. However, we will disable the features such as events posting and classifieds, in favor of the new FIN web apps by last week of December. So we are giving everyone 2 weeks to migrate events/classifieds listings from Ning to FIN.
Rest assured, we will continue to keep our current Ning setup of my.FresnoArts.net. As I am a member of the Ning Council, I stay in touch with the feature development of the platform and I am confident on their product pipeline as they lead the verticals/niche social network platform industry.
I believe that this is a big step, actually a major one. I am already lining up co-marketing partnerships that will extend the reach of the arts community to audiences that are particularly needing the inspiration provided by artists and creatives.
Next week, I am meeting with First 5 Fresno to present the Kids and Families section of FresnoArts.net. I have already negotiated a banner ad placement on the PlayFresno.org website as well. We currently get about 8,000 unique visits a month and my goal is to increase that reach to more than 20,000 next year. The future for arts marketing here in Fresno looks very promising indeed.
Well, this has been long. If you are still reading this, you must be as passionate as I am to improve the quality of life here in Fresno County through the arts. The arts are the soul of our community. We will continue until our leaders see the real economic impact that we contribute locally.
Cheers to you and your family and happy holidays!
