Many of you know this happened but many don't

Short story but it just happened to me.
I have asthma and was short of breath 2 months ago...thought my inhaler wasn't working. As some of you know I am an artist and a Thursday night was happily attending an art show. Someone coughed right in my face.
Sunday I couldn't breath the time I got to the Dr it was too late. I made it across the hosp doorway and collapsed =Blood Pressure 70/40. I fought for 2 days trying to breath until my family was told by drs they had to induce a coma because my body had no more strength. I fought that too...until I was too weak to even breathe I was in the coma for 8 days. I left the hospital before Dr wanted but it was leave or go nuts (woman down the hall screaming for 2 all the fun stuff they do to you in hosp that keeps you constantly awake.
Did you know that a coma takes away all your abilities? I am relearning walking, writing, everything. I can't paint...that hurts the most. It is painful and slow but I am alive. My dear dear Norman is running triple time.
I write this not to get your sympathy but to beg you to get you to get the pneumonia vaccination. I thought...I'm healthy...I blew it off...that happens to other people.
It happened to a perfectly healthy me in 2 days. Since I am out I have heard of 2 people who have died in 2 days.
Sorry if this sounds scary but it is....and deadly.
I am slowly coming back, no visitors allowed, no contact with others.......I can peck at computer....please please protect yourselves!

I am so sorry to read of all you have gone through. Yes, I actually got my first pneumonia shot ever and my first flu shot after having a terrible flu last year. I'm a nurse and should know better but I also had to get very sick in order to take it seriously. I am so happy to hear that you are painting again. Indeed you must get your spirit back to paint and when your body is so weak, there's just no way that you can do that. Thank you for your kind words regarding my work; it is always encouraging and I'm happy that you enjoy it. All the best, Elaine

I will not be at Sambas nor Mind and Body for obvious reasons. But be back on my feet soon (as Drs let me)
