Visalia Arts Consortium Request for Qualifications

The Visalia Arts Consortium in Visalia, CA announces a national call for a large-scale sculpture for their Taste the Arts festival, September 2010. The Consortium seeks to commission an artist/artist team to design a 3-dimensional work that would utilize and pay tribute to the fruit and vegetables that are grown in the Tulare County region. The sculpture should be assembled on site (downtown Visalia) to allow for a public audience over a period of two to four days. (Minimum height requirements are eight feet).
A total budget of $5,000 covers all costs associated with the project including, but not limited to materials, fabrication, installation, permitting, documentation, transportation.
The selection panel will include members of the Visalia Arts Consortium. The panel will review artist's submissions, resume and letters of interest. The panel will make their selection by January 15th.
Proposal Letter: Describe overall vision of sculpture including dimensions and theme. Describe the raw materials you would need and your plan for obtaining those materials. Describe how much space and time you would need to complete the project and list any special considerations or concerns.

Resume: Current resume with emphasis on relevant experience.
