I added the Egrets in last night's quick entry. They are three, by Chris Sorensen, overlooking the San Joaquin River, on Friant, right across from the Copper development. The path that goes by them leads from Woodward Park. There's a spot of shade and in addition to the lovely representation of our ubiquitous big white bird, the view is spectacular. Worth the trip on foot, skates or bicycle
Chris' metal Bulldog is outside of Weco Supply, on Ventura between 7th and 8th. I left the tossed cups...it really looks like he ate the last few people who ventured too close! I have another shot of this I'll insert later when my poor fried brain can handle another round of photo editing.
This steel door, with inset glass and distressed surface, was created by Bob Gifford, who also helps manage Chris's studio, on lower Van Ness. It's installed in a private home and alludes to the design of the residence's front door. Note the lack of hinges; it pivots!
Bob described the process of removing the natural scale from the steel so that the surface rust could develop. I'm surprised at how the rust pattern that developed mimics the brown veigning in the glass insets (*Bob has since informed me that these are not glass, but stone!). I'm not sure if that's a serendipitous event or intentional.
I'll close here and promise more in the next days. This last shot is the view from Kaiser Pass, at the end of the day.
