For those of you who dont know Bosque, I just want to say a few things about him. Bill is a kind, loving and very intelligent man. He runs Love Song Art Shows, he puts on phenominal events and yet he still mantains his positive down to earth, extremley humble sense of humanity. He would be there for anyone in a pinch. God knows he has had to council me on more than 100 occasions! He is always ready for a good laugh and just when you have him filed away in your mind as one of those, he comes…

I'm really getting excited now! Saturday we'll be accepting entries at Chris Sorensen's for the 6th annual Nudes in November. I've heard from several out of town artists who are bringing work, from as far away as Ventura! This is going to be a great show, and I feel the anticipation building... I hope we have enough wall space. And then there's the juroring.... it's so hard to tell artists that their work wasn't accepted, even though they paid a $20 entry fee. Some people get angry with me,…

To members of the Fresno Arts Council, I just wanted to say 'thank you' for allowing us to spread the word about the Central Valley Dance Festival. We loved having all the dancers, directors, musicians and artists share their talents with us and the community.
To all new participants this year, plus our 2nd and 3rd year 'alumni', thank you for your grace and willingness to assist us both backstage and onstage. I was told that we have inspired many to support local artists in the…

How many times I have heard the words, "that can't be done" "no way" at "what budget?" "there's a budget?" With hundreds of volunteer hours, a ton of supportive friends and relatives, the answer is a resounding YES!
Dance is such a dynamic art that transcends all other barriers of understanding between peoples (socio-economic, culture and race, religion and status, profession and association). It is what I fell in love with BUT the opportunity never came for me to get trained in the…

I walked by the door today and
the outside trees were absolutely singing with the wind!
I was drawn outside
by the music of the wind thrilling though the trees and bushes
and by a thread of a bright green light
moving into
more complex shades
of darker greens
reflecting,
waving
branches
and limbs.
painted by an unseen hand.
I was pulled outside
into the full glory
of one of those brillant days…

It's almost time... October is ending...and Nudes in November is almost here. I'm part of the Chris Sorensen Studio, and this is my second year curating the Nudes show. It's really exciting! One of my favorite parts is when artists bring in their work (this year it's on the 25th). Seeing each artists impression of the human figure is inspiring. Most portray beauty, others... well, there aren't ever many that are negative, thankfully.
I've always loved figurative work. While in…

My poem, "Sweeping, el logico de la escoba, a los desaparacedos de Guatemala" has just come out in the new double issue of Whiskey Island Magazine, which has nominated it for a Pushcart Prize. Whiskey Island Magazine is published in Ohio. I wrote to the editor after being notified of the nomination, that validations through publishing come few and far between, and to be not only published but nominated for a Pushcart is amazing. Let this be encouraging to us all!

Janna and I have taken a couple of canvas' and some signed and numbered giclees to the Yosemite Art and Flute Festival this weekend. Day One was hot, and I'm not sure any of the vendors sold anything, but everyone is optimistic that Saturday and Sunday will be better.
If you get a chance, please drop by and say Hi.

From: Tosca
Second Act part 6 (Vissi d´arte)
Composed by: Giacomo Puccini
Maria Callas
I lived for my art, I lived for love,
I never did harm to a living soul!
With a secret hand
I relieved as many misfortunes as I knew of.
Always with true faith
my prayer
rose to the holy shrines.
Always with true faith
I gave flowers to the altar.
In the hour of grief
why, why, o Lord,
why do you reward me thus?
I gave…
