Shock Art!! The World Of Tracy Emin
Shock art. Shocking. Absurd. Perverse. Yet it exists and it is a reflection of all of our internal turmoil—the internal world, the subconscious dream world, the very real world of war, plagues, crime. What is art but life replicated or…

The visual imagery of my work Self Portrait as Mamita Carmen was inspired by this amazing artist. He is a painter from Belgium and his works are mostly figurative but have a bit of a surrealist quality about them. I wish I could explain it through words, but it's kinda hard to describe his style. His subjects in his works almost defy gravity. He kinda makes his own reality and shows his perceptions and imaginations through his paintings. Here's a link to a website that features his…

Art Consignment. Or Art "Rentals"? Same thing? Different? Anyone know how that works, what the general agreements are, how one charges for that, how it works, yada yada? I would appreciate any info or tips. You can reply here, or send me a message.
I need to get many of my larger reverse glass pieces hung in a longer term home for a couple months and was hoping something like that would work out.
Appreciate picking your brains! Thank you!

To many, Jean Michel Basquiat is a mystery; his art, his persona, his cryptic messages he tagged all over NYC. To anyone unversed in art
history, his paintings come across as either child-like or genius. As one
artist put it in the movie, “Modern Art A Complete History”, to be a genius is
to be a child all over again, whenever you need to be one. Jean Michel was
certainly a prodigy, by the age of twenty-seven, upon his death, he had left
the world…

To the serious artist I am a joke. No serious artist works with poster paint, what am I, five years old?
But before I justify working with this medium, a little history.
I started drawing in college, at Fresno City College. I loved the sensation of charcoal and nupastel under my thumb. I got accustomed to the way gliding my finger across the page created a softening in tone. It was almost watery at the edges yet the charcoal could be laid on heavily to create a uniform and dark…

My buddy M, a fellow zine writer, and I spent the weekend in SF doing all sorts of awesome zine related things, like hitting up the SF Zine Fest, sitting for a reading at Needles and Pens and thrift store shopping.
