Local Social Network for the Arts Community in Central Valley
I was always a little confused as to how certain types of art are placed into certain genres at art shows. For one thing, it seemed to be purely subjective, depending on each artist’s concept of what that particular Genre was and some art didn’t seem to fit into any division at all!

Fairly new to Fresno and looking for studio/workspace. Any info. or advice?
I like a quiet place, at least 9-foot ceiling, window and natural light, willing to share of course. Live off Herndon in NW Fresno, so within 5-8 miles preferred.

Me llamaste india
como si fuera la propia palabra
Como si fuera un insulto.
Y me reí de ti a

Con mucho orgullo soy mestiza.
Soy mucho más india que la mazorca
que te da de comer.

Where does he find the time?
Where does he find the soul?
Tugs me along with careless selections of masterful songs
DJ, Músico, mi Maestro.
Here is an instrument for you to play,
beneath the skin,
where music begins,
the sound is mixed,
the beats find willing counter parts.
You can record straight into me.
Control the tempo and the bass,
teach me more
about my own rhythmic…Continue

Red stained deputy's patrol car ,
victim of a strawberry war,
traviesa de ojos grandes,
curls caked in fruit.
" Una buena chinga te van a poner bonita", says the blond blue eyed man with the badge.
He is speaking Spanish,
and it scares me
more than the knowledge my aunt Guille is going to smack me
for throwing strawberries at her friend's…

What would be
the best distance
he and I?
Would it be miles, or inches?
Hours, or days?
When what I want
only seconds and swift.
The shortest distance
his lips and mine.
The most desperate
How long could it be?
Enough to hear him say
before I feel…Continue

Let’s talk about the pile of elephant dung in the middle of the room; namely, that adults in Fresno and Clovis consider a print from Target or Wal-Mart to be on the same level as an original painting from a local artist. Why is this? Well, I believe it is because they don’t think of paintings as a cultural medium, but as mere decorator objects. I think this belief…Continue
y mi alma no deja
en tonos mudos,
canciones caprichosas que nunca ha de…Continue

Esos ojos hermosos
esos ojos son míos.
Aunque tú no lo quieras, aunque yo no lo digo.
Por esas dos almendras oscuras
me he perdido
en trastorno sublime.
Los traigo en mi sangre,
los llevo escondidos,
muy dentro de mi alma.
Son mi sueño adorado.
Son mi tierno castigo,
pues no he de tenerlos, nunca, conmigo.
Cuando halagan tu distante mirada,
Si vieras, con qué orgullo reclamo.
Como si fueras…Continue

Somewhere on the sidewalks
we rush on,
high heeled steps

We wake up

I am so excited to tell you about this new ArtHop! I am working with BOOT (Business of Old Town Clovis) and they have agreed to provide space for 35 artists, once a month, at their upcoming Friday night Farmer’s Markets.
This is an amazing opportunity for the local artists and a really nice addition to the Farmer’s Market. On average, they have about 5,000 people come thru their Market every Friday – wow! They are very excited about having the artists…Continue

When I started FresnoArts.net over 5 years ago, I envisioned a connected community of artists in Central Valley where discussions and debate on how to make Fresno County thrive through the arts and culture industry.
Today, I would like to ask if someone (either an individual or organization) could take on the vision and shared responsibility with the Fresno Arts Council to operate and maintain this social network. It's with deep sadness that I have to pass on…Continue
The tender little flowering feelings, embryonic, on the surface of my being,
not deep enough to call them anything

He took the spark and doused the flame, with octane,
he lit the tendrils that connect the mundane with the insane.
He blurred the lines of my red stained
Smeared it all across his neck.
he bites down when it’s crazy,
and the feeling is compelling,
and the music is unending,
and I can’t refrain.

It’s so good to get…Continue
