My Art at Heartbeat Boxing August 4th, 2016

Hello! I used to come by here back in 2010 as a 20-something year old to blog and post pics of my art. Six years has passed since I last posted my art. I am still making art, though my style has changed. I have matured as an artist. My style is now more expressionist, more abstract, and I do more paintings now. Also, I do acrylic paintings now. I have spent the past 5 years attending CSU Fresno for my Bachelor's and Master's degrees and volunteering as a graphic designer for an…

INTERVIEW WITH ARTS BUSINESS INSTITUTE

I have been consulting with an art marketing specialist and today, my art business was featured:

ABI ARTIST PROFILE:  Debra Montgomery

I would recommend Carolyn Edlund / Art Business Institute / Artsy Shark for anyone wanting to discuss marketing and business options.  She has been a real help.

Fierce Love

It is a fierce love,

that I see

when I look into her eyes.

I can feel the courage in her heart.

She speaks to me,

from a photograph.

I hear

 the unselfish determination,

 the driving force,

echoing

 in the voices,

that tell her story.

The story of Zoraida “Ale” Reyes,

activist,

woman,

defender of the persecuted,

began with a declaration:

I am a…

Once,

as I heard a fellow poet,

about how much Fresno's existence offended and oppressed him,

Uprising

Difficult to write when the fire is

 burning out of control.

Difficult to speak.

I would rather scream,

guttural,

unhinged at the jaw,

mouth agape,

swallowing entire cities whole.

With a knee to the neck,

arms and legs pinned down,

beneath the weight of violence,

blatant disregard to the value of

a human life,

and criminal abandonment,

the soul of a community

beaten and…

Perfeccion

Perfección

Como se desencadenan las ideas,

y se libera de este mal?

Amores son como la fiebre,

cuando uno de los dos quiere mas.

En estas cosas de ternura,

solo es riesgo

la verdad.

Si no te ama con locura,

recuerda,

corazón sabio,

que

no tiene ninguna culpabilidad.

Aquí,

no hay nada que se tenga que perdonar.

Así son los amores,

se mueren o se dan.

No vas a perder un…

Upon Hearing That Juan Felipe Herrera Was Named the Next U.S. Poet Laureate

At this moment,

my heart exploded into sun flowers.

The tips of my fingers, toes and tongues

 sprouted beautiful  lush greens,

allowing my words to pour out of vines

that ripened into swollen squash  ,

 with tender  creamy yellow flesh.

A new bloom with each step forward .

 The fruit ,

settling along the ground I walk on,

growing out in every direction .

The squash open,

 seeds pour out at my…

Mi Existencia

This is my mind.

I guard it with my life.

I have spent too many days and nights,

tirelessly sifting through sand,

gathering up threads and pieces ,

to ever

 let it

be lost.

This is my body.

I guard it with my mind.

I have spent too many hours fighting,

 to own it.

I cannot give it away to pain

 or,

 without meditation,

to pleasure,

as though it was…

Space Between Spaces (a spoken word poem)

The cars, the signs, the noise,

people with all their toys

The street lights

The city fights

keeps me up at night.

The grind, the push, the stress

Gotta keep moving through this mess

Don't slow down

Too many smiles covered up with a frown

Our lives are the words that everyone shouts

Who said this is what it's  all about?

We rant and we rage

BeCause the rules…

untitled

It is

the every day

quiet,

deceivingly ordinary,

drunk happiness

I wear,

when you,

wrap songs

of

moonshine

that begin to play

as singular notes,

from the soles of my feet,

slowly

twisting

into

melodies

that

sweep up

and

pass

my belly,

with the weight of feathers.

The laughter pools in my eyes

and settles

on the nape of my neck,

the bare skin,

usually… Continue

Flor

No soy rosa,

ni lirio.

Soy bromelia,

Do not mistaken me for a rose,

I am no rose,

nor amethyst hued iris in spring bloom.

I am a hearty bromeliad,

entrenched in the cleavage

of exposed granite,

growing forcefully out

from

within deep pockets of serpentine

and obsidian.

I am found,

brightly thriving in arid

unforgiving terrain,

an unexpected

declaration of life.

I am here,

waiting,

in… Continue

Boundless and Borderless

Yo no creo en fronteras,

Yo no creo en definiciones, ni limitaciones

Mi poder esta en mi corazón

En la belleza que traigo por dentro.

Ser mujer

Y no dejare

que me detengan

 por el simple hecho

 que tengo…

DOES YOUR COMPUTER HAVE THE FLU?

Now that you have discovered the ease of internet publicity, internet sales, and computer record keeping, it is time to discuss some of the pitfalls of being a member of the Internet generation. The world wide web is the wild west and your neighborhood sheriffs are rare, so you need to do what first generation settlers did: learn to protect yourself and your computer from the bad guys.

The holiday shopping season is about to pounce on us, and with it, a rash of computer malware and virus… Continue
