Profile Information

About:
Somewhat freckled educator, domestic CEO, and artist.

Open to employment offers and very open to new possibilities. I'm very interested in technology education, communication and the arts. My favorite work is introducing newcomers (and latecomers) to computer use and website construction.

I speak Spanish and German passably (literate, too). During the 90's, I edited academic and business documents translated to English from German, Russian and Spanish. Masters in counseling, teaching credentials. I've traveled and lived abroad for short stretches.

I'm easy to get along with. References available.

Reasons Every Artist Should Have a Flickr: Part 3

Well, I did promise a third and final entry on the topic and, here it is. This final segment covers the values of archiving and sharing your work, for professional purposes. Not quite finished, but I'll be back to edit later!

Part of my point has already been clarified so well by a video that Victor shared in response to my first blog on the topic that I'm simply going to share the link and encourage you to watch it, first, and then come back. Don't miss the section on using Tags to index all o… Continue

New Threads: Part 2

Burlee Vang opened the second half of the evening. I can't decide which to share here. "Love at the USPS" reminded me of those maddening people who would have us be a safer, tamer, more manageable version of ourselves, who wouldn't mind if we happened to serve them in the process, too. I listened to him describe the first glimpse of snow as "The silence of paper shattered" ("Winter, Fresno '98") and I wondered about the "white" that fell on them, seducing them from their mother's tables. It was… Continue

New Threads: An Evening with Hmong American Writers & Artists

I've just returned from the most wonderful event. I was enthralled and, at times overwhelmed, by the words, voices and images presented by the members of the Hmong American Writers' Circle. Normally rather reserved in public settings, my eyes repeatedly filled with tears at the accomplishment displayed and, also, at words that spoke to my own experiences of growing up in an immigrant family, to the struggle to weave an identity that could span worlds, both past and present. I'll share the first… Continue

Reasons Every Artist Should Have a Flickr: Part 2

I really appreciated the feedback on my first post about this topic; it encouraged me to continue! And, after adding to my original post this morning, it occurred to me that it was getting a bit long and that it might be easier to chew if it were served up in smaller bites. So, I've given Point 3 its own blog entry.

Reasons 1 and 2 covered having your own online gallery and getting maximum exposure for a minimum of effort. The third point is: Cross Linking.

3. Positive Cross Linking*

Thanks… Continue

Reasons Every Artist Should Have a Flickr

Good morning :)

I've got just a few minutes to get started, busy day ahead, but I thought I could begin now and come back to it later.

I recently asked Rattananan if she had a flickr account and she asked me WHY she should have one. I like the question, because with all the things you CAN do on the net, it's important to sort out and focus upon what you really SHOULD do to meet your goals. So, I'll start with some simple reasons and co… Continue

Hi Victoria, hope all is well with you I just sold my house and got caught with a few pieces of cassius I didn't have time to test and glaze. have you ever used a commercial clear with that clay? if so would you be willing to share the name/brand/type with me? I would really appreciate. thanx I have no location at present to do testing and have taken a few items to Potter's Studio to glaze up there. Love your buttons especially the single yellow rose, a beautiful painterly effect.
You can send an email to me at mtnstar@ocsnet.net, thanks

Re: music style...

Any at this point; something easy to setup --- acoustic... Maybe I should ask Pieter huh, but I hate asking for non-budgeted events.

I am hoping that people will just be networking and we won't need to have music.

So, to answer your question, any at this point will do, as long as it's not rockin' the whole city :)

Hello Victoria,

I just wanted to drop by and say hello. I've been very busy with the office relocation and opening; now I need to focus on my clients.

Anyway, I want to mention that I met your friend today, Sabrina, at Teazers. It's such a small world.

See you soon and hopefully to the MeetUp. Is there a way we could get a musician for one hour?
