The Youth Orchestras of Fresno
Established in 1950 as an all-city string ensemble and morphing through the decades into the Kiwanis Youth Orchestra, the Fresno Junior Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Fresno Youth Philharmonic, today’s Youth Orchestras of Fresno welcome participants of all ages and backgrounds from counties throughout California’s Central Valley. Also essential to the Youth Orchestras’ mission is the Accent on Access Violin Program, a free after-school music training program entering its fourth year at Edison Bethune Charter Academy in downtown Fresno. The Youth Orchestras are grateful to the Fresno Regional Foundation, the Bonner Family Foundation, the California Arts Council, the Garabedian Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts for support of these efforts.
