In January 2018 I became a member of Fig Tree Gallery. You can see my work at Williams West Gallery in Oakhurst, Shaver Lake Art Gallery in Shaver Lake, and online at blueoakart.vpweb.com.
Though I focused on painting in school, my graphic design background propels me toward printmaking; translating my drawings into simple, bold images is a process I find challenging and satisfying, one that forces me to pare down the detail and color in the work to the essentials.
I work out of my studio in the foothills. I love it here. I moved from the Bay Area with my family where I worked as an art director and graphic designer. That was my day job. Though these days I'm focused on printmaking and painting, I still do graphic design, my most visible piece being the logo for Shaver Lake Art Gallery.
I've done a couple of murals in the Bay Area, private and commercial, which led me to try directing children through the mural process at a small private school in Hayward. The results of my latest efforts in that area can be seen on what used to be the 1st and 2nd grade doors at Auberry Elementary School in the foothills. The kids are always amazed by what they can accomplish. I like helping them discover what they are capable of, giving them a sense of ownership in their school, and seeing their pride in the finished piece.
