Holy Smoke, First Barrel Firing

I had a blast with my first barrel firing yesterday. That is, after I got over the huge smoke screen I created. I'm so proud I did this all by myself. I wanted to work out any potential kinks before I invite folks over for another barrel firing. You can read all about it and see photos of the few pieces I fired on my two blog posts here:

Kristkindlmarkt in Springville A Raving Success

The first annual Kristkindlmarkt in Springville today was a raving success. The weather cooperated providing crisp air and clear skies and lots of visitors came by to enjoy the day's events. The event was the brain child of Dean Diaz de Leon and he along with Ron and John constructed the booths from reclaimed, weathered wood donated from various sources in the Springville area. I arrived early in the morning to set up my booth to display my handmade ceramics. I was surprised at how nice my stone… Continue

Top of the Line - My First Juried Show

I meant to post this here (it was late last night, sorry for the duplication):

I am pleased to announce my hand built, one-of-a-kind ceramics were juried into the Soroptimist Club of Visalia's Top of the Line Holiday Marketplace show for this weekend. Tickets are available at the door. My booth G-04 is in the main exhibit hall of the Visalia Convention Center. This is my first juried show and I'll be unveiling some of my new ceramic forms with unique glazes. I'll also have some of my popular pi… Continue

Our gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10am-6pm and we have a reception during art hop, which will be Thursday the 19th for this March between 5pm and 8pm. I just thought I would let you know when is best to visit the gallery that way you don't drive all the way to see us and have us not be there! I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello there! My name is Starla Williams and I'm the curator of the new Peppertree Gallery here in Fresno and was wondering if you were interested in showing and/or selling your work in a gallery setting? We rent just the space an artists needs for a whole month, we provided a complimentary reception during art hop on the third Thursday of the month, and anything you sell you keep a hundred percent of the profit. We can accommodate wall mounted pieces as well as sculpture. I would love to hear back from you with any questions or comments you may have. Thank you for your time. I do have problems following comments and responses as well. I go to the top of the page on MY PAGE and there is and icon of an envelope. Click on the icon and it will reflect you messages. But to reply to the message I click and it takes me to the senders MY PAGE and I post an Add Comment.

As far as the comments made you are on the mark. We as artists must get together and create a comprehensive list of needs. A wish list and visions as we are all creatives. How can we put together a list which includes isses, needs and possible solutions. Don't be a problem, be a problem solver. I tried to print your commont on the post, but could not. Please start a list and possible solutions and e-mail them to me. e-mail: annstewart@wildblue.net

I will notify you of the next FCASH meeting. The other resources include the CVBI (Central Valley Businsess Incubator) they have programs for the success of new business. They offer Entrepneur Unplugged once a month for free. A successful person shares success and how they reached their position. Free.

Was that you talking about firing this past week? Someone was in, referred by Duncan for info re firing. I was doing glaze inventory.

Planned & then forgot to take a pic of the booth! Another chance coming up this Thursday...let's see if I can get it done! Art Hop here is a bit different...I was used to organized "mini trips" to a predetermined set of galleries---here, it means that galleries are open and often shows open on the first Thursday of the month. Many galleries are in the south part of Fresno. Third Thursday Art Hop honors galleries and art venues toward the north...often in restaurants, malls, cafes, etc. It's a midweek night out to see what's new on the art front.
