I am a sculptor who works predominately with cast bronze and iron figurative elements. Although much of this work is initially representational, elements from this work, along with body casts are installed in carefully selected natural locations and photographed. The basic content of the work is to ask questions about the fragility of the body and its interaction with nature.
In addition to running a sculpture studio, I also am a tenured full-time professor of sculpture at Fresno City College.
A few of my pieces will be part of the faculty exhibition at Fresno City College's ArtSpace Gallery which opens this Thursday. There will be a reception at 6pm Thursday. There will also be a reception during Arthop. Check it out if you have a chance. I have added some images, let me know what you think.

Hi Laura
Just a note to tell you I still yearn to come-on-over Because that was such a cool day! But things have shifted into high gear (you know,I'm sure). I still think of you :)
Hi - good to hear from you! In all honesty, I can't remember which job that was now. From October through the holidays, its been chaos with working and family visitors! Lately its been lighter stuff, kitchen hoods, etc. We do have a fence/gate job coming up and after that, a railing job. May need some help with that - we actually were talking about some of that today. Still have your and Eric's numbers. :) How are you guys doing? Hope all is well!
Hi Laura - Yes, we are getting there. We did get Eric's message and I believe Eric is going to give him a call today. I will remind him about that. And again, we are still interested in the little giant, but I think we will have to wait until sometime after the holidays. Yep, we should get together sometime for dinner. Hopefully I can make it to the next sculpture critique, too.
Hi Laura!
Does this mean you arte no longer in pain? I sure hope so!!~
Is Oct 17 set up firmly as a critque gathering? I would love to come listen.
When are your classes now. I would love to hop over there say hello and see whatcha up to :) ?
love,
Linda
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, both Erics have spoken - so we will be in touch about when we get into that job. Also talked a bit about that Little Giant. I am in the middle of a big repousse project right now that I will be done with / delivered on Oct 7. After that, my schedule will be a little more flexible - so if you end up still needing help with your sculpture or any other "apprenticeship" in exchange for instruction ideas, just give me a call.
Oh Laura!~Ouch ouch ouch ouch!! I really feel for you!
Thank you for the thought but you get to stay home..preferably without the stone though. I didn't stay long down there long ...heat still drains me fast, I guess I'll have to build up immunity again..to heat! I did get a couple of honorable mentions which was great.
I want to make it over to your show also..and I will. When is the closing date?
As for your question. The answer would proably be, where don't I get inspiration? I transilate everything through art filters (or additives) nowdays. It may sound funny but even lights and sounds contribute to my art making. As I have gotten older various elements seem to fit together with more ease. Life 'blends' more and all the parts fit together more easily, even the rough times..
I saw the posting on the door about working as an assistant in the class. Do you still need people and if so, would there be any options for me if I was only available before and after the intermediate classes on Tues and Thurs and the occasional Saturday (you mentioned you do the castings on Saturdays). I know its busy before and after classes, so feel free to call me on my cell at 392-6426.
