About:
I own Forest Awakenings and handcraft fine hardwood boxes in my studio in Central California. While occasionally using lumber from commercial sources, I prefer to use recycled, repurposed, and urban lumber in my works.
One of the reasons I love working with wood is that trees retain their life long after leaving the forest. Sometime they just need a little help waking up. In much of my design work, I combine my affinity for classical western architecture with the challenge of letting the natural beauty of the wood show through. And throughout, I like to make the work touchable. So as you find my work out and about, feel free to pick a piece up let all your senses roam

Hi Douglas

Thanks for your kind words. I am currently showing at La Parisian on Herndon right by TGIF. I have 13 of my works on display until the end of this month.

While I have been doing this for over 40 years it is only recently I started showing due to requests. I have many of my pieces also on my Facebook page.

Good afternoon, The ReStore is a good idea, I havent been there in a while. We are planning on using a queen bed, 60" wide and want it tall. Her ceiling are 12', think of a 1920's SF loft apt. I have access to a truck and own a gmc cargo van that is for sale, if you know anyone who needs a good work van? If you want more info on the van let me know. Just thought I would ask about the wood! Thanks

Thank you Douglas, for your nice words about my art. I wish, I had more time to paint, but between work and life, painting comes saddly, last. Your art is beautiful, I love the stoppers. Reading your information, it hit me that you might be a possible supplier of old wood? I am looking for old planks, old 2 x 4, to make a headboard? Rough, painted distressed all work. Thanks for your time, Brenda

Thanks Douglas. Thanks! Yes, there's something about wood. Each piece is unpredictable. One never knows what one's tools will reveal.

Welcome to the site.  Your art is so beautifully crafted.  I love the fact that you used recycled wood.
