Artist and illustrator Doug Hansen has worked in Fresno, CA for over thirty-five years. Hansen was born in Fresno, and is the eldest of six children in an artistic family. Doug collaborated with his mother, Janice, and brothers Keith and Craig to draw and paint the San Joaquin River mural installed in Fresno’s Woodward Park Regional Library. He worked as a newsroom artist at The Fresno Bee newspaper for 23 years. The Bee published collections of his Fresno Sketchbook pen and ink drawings of Valley landmarks in 1991 and 1993.
Hansen received both his BA and MA in Art from California State University, Fresno. He is now an Associate Professor of Graphic Design at his alma mater and teaches Illustration. He is a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
Hansen carried on a fruitful seven-year collaboration with author David “Mas” Masumoto, illustrating the writer’s stories with watercolor paintings that appeared in The Fresno Bee. Heyday Books published their work in two books: "Letters to the Valley: A Harvest of Memories" in 2004, and "Heirlooms: Letters from a Peach Farmer" in 2007.
"Mother Goose in California", an illustrated ABC book, was published in April 2009 by Heyday Books of Berkeley, CA. The book is proving very popular and is going into its second printing.

You're welcome. The Wolks are fans of the whole Hansen family. I just sent Abby my copy of Greg's palindrome book. She wants my humpback of Notre Dame. No Way! Maybe I'll leave it to her when I die--along with me bed. (An old Irish saying.)
