Chris M. Sorensen Studio has been open to Fresno area artists since 1991. It is a working studio, in the co-op style, in the downtown industrial area of Fresno, that hosts monthly shows--sometimes its own artists, other times groups that have rented the gallery for a show.
Chris works primarily in metal, welding, and has public installments in many locations in the Fresno region. Years ago, he opened up his studio to other artists, sharing space and equipment. The gallery was an outgrowth of that, and continues to evolve. Shows change monthly, new shows open on Art Hop night, the first Thursday of every month.
My wife Janet Dowis and I are old friends and neighbors of Don Kanawyer, and I know you knew him. As you know he was a metal sculptor also. For years a group of friends have gathered annually at a campout in the National Forest near Wishon Reservoir, and Don and his wife Marilyn were included in this "tribal gathering" for many years. Don was instrumental in making a memorial to Chuck Moulton, local Fresno poet, who died a few years ago. The group imbedded Don's metal memorial to Chuck near the camp area and in subsequent years another metal memorial has been fabricated and installed next to Chuck's memorial, a sculpture to which new epitaphs can be added to remember tribal elders who have died. For several years Janet and I have been trying to create a metal memorial to Don to hang upon the sculpture, but have been unsuccessful. I was wondering if we could commission you to create something, and if so, if you would call us at 298-8205. I have photographs of the sculpture on which his memorial would hang, so you can get an idea of what we want.

Peace, love and happiness! Herb.
It was nice meeting you Chris this past Thursday at All Things Fresno Gallery. I had a very good time, and I am exited to be able to show my work here at this beautiful Gallery.
