About Me:
California Opera’s primary focus is to identify, recruit, train, present, and shepherd the opera world’s most outstanding singers to International and Grand Opera careers. Artists participate based on performing ability, experience, desire to excel in the field, and potential to positively contribute to the future of the traditional, yet changing face of opera in both local and international venues. California Opera artists are presented in an annual SUMMER OPERA ARTS & EDUCATION FESTIVAL, and in fully-staged opera productions and special events throughout the year. The opera, committed to ensuring access to the arts, delivers programs annually to several thousand children and for various charitable and community causes. California Opera, founded in May 2000 by internationally acclaimed Mezzo-Soprano and General Artistic Director Edna Garabedian, is distinguished by its reputation for high quality programs and performances that are acclaimed by critics locally, nationally and internationally.

Each year, the Fresno based California Opera Association offers a summer Festival that blends international exchange and classroom-based educational opportunities for aspiring stage artists culminating in fully staged opera performances with an array of concert-style opera performances and recitals for the community. The 2009 California Opera Arts & Education Festival couples COA stage veteran’s with international and locally renowned newcomers in a community oriented approach to opera education. This summer we celebrate 10 years of summer opera in Fresno. Hi Diane!
I just returned from an out of town trip also. The poster competition the 14th was one in which paintings were submitted to represent the Central California Winegrowers Fall Cornucopia at Chuckchansi Oct 25th. I won it :)
I am following your 'travels' through Fresno with great interest! So your wonderful vocals will be heard from the courtyard during the grand reopening of the Met? Do you know if the performances will float on throughout the museum also? What a day at the Met that will be!!

But as I look back I see I didn't get my THANK YOU to you after showing at the Tower.. What a special experience it was to be at the Oprera again and even more fun listening while I worked.
Thank you again...and I look forward to again merging the arts in such a special fashion!.
I'll be following you with interest,

Thank you so much for your comments. I do want you to continue keeping me in the loop of information especially as I do want to make a definite connection with Spirit of Woman. I did not get anyone there this Spring or Summer because the founder, Audrey, had surgery and is recovering. I need to have her total awareness and help in organizing who and when. Keep me posted. Thanks, Karlene Ryan
