Just to let you all know the fire arts fest in Oakland went well. I am still recovering! I will post some pics later this week. In the meantime, any suggestions for new discussion topics? I have a couple of ideas, but I am hoping this will be a group effort . . .

I can get in touch with the group I mentioned earlier and see what they do in the way of preformances. I'm not sure of their name yet but will investigate.

I think a discussion regarding a Fresno Fire Art Fest would definitely be a good place to start. My husband would be interested in this too. For us, the more advanced notice the better on just about anything so we can schedule the times in to participate.

Bosque - Well that is a way to put it . . . Linda - I was exhausted from my run up to the site in Oakland Friday and so slept in then of course could not sleep normal hours, but you never know when I am up or not. Debra etc. - Perhaps we should start a discussion on a Fire Art Fest - in the Winter I think.

Wow! Would I like to go to to the Fire Arts Festival! But I will be having an event of my own July 16th.
I first began to see the new work with fire at my granddaughters' Graduation Party. A friend of hers was twirling tennis balls in intricate patterns that were mesmerizing. At first I thought he was just 'playing' and there was no thought to it. But as the evening wore on I saw this was no play, it was deliberate and very involved.
After a couple of hours he brought out various 'fire holders' and lite them. It was great! He whirled the fire around his head and body in fascinating patterns. As a group (many artists were there) we were all astonished and transfixed.
I encourage anyone who hasn't seen this elaborate type of beautiful fire dancing to go take a look at the groups that do it in Fresno. You will hold your breath, smile and gasp at the same time!

Hi! How fun! My husband and I took one of the blacksmithing classes at the Crucible - what a great place! It was a lot of fun! They offer a good variety of classes at any given time. Anything from bicycle frame repairing to machining to glass blowing to general welding and sculpture, and the prices for classes are reasonable. They also offer weekend classes which is nice.

The Fire Arts Festival looks like a blast - haven't been able to see it yet, but definitely if anyone gets a chance to go - you should definitely make the trip.

Still can't wait to take one of your classes, Laura :) - hopefully you can get some pics of the festival. Have a good day!
