Arts and Cultural Information in Fresno City and County

What is FresnoArts?

FresnoArts is a project by the Fresno Arts Council (FAC) in collaboration with a private enterprise Socient. This project is consistent with the mission of FAC which is "to enhance people's lives through the arts". This project's goal is to create a thriving online community centered on artists and their craft, with the art events promoters helping to market shows, exhibits, performances, and festivals.

How does this work? How could an artist or an arts promoter participate?

Artists and art community events promoters (including ArtHop venues) could participate by signing up. Once signed-up as a member, artists and art events promoters are able to post artwork, events, articles (via blog), videos, and engage in discussions via the forum.

How much does it cost to join?

FresnoArts Community is FREE to join for a limited time. We do ask for your support by pledging your membership to Fresno Arts Council.

Do you accept sponsorships or grants?

Well, yes of course. The partnership with a private enterprise to develop and produce FresnoArts enabled the Fresno Arts Council to start. There are costs associated with maintaining FresnoArts (to ensure fresh and proper contents are posted, and the community well monitored) and we welcome sponsorship and funding opportunities from proper sources.

What are the benefits for being a sponsor or donor?

Aside from being a proud supporter of the arts community (we make sure that is well publicized too), we are creating a banner ad system that sponsors could use to promote their businesses. At the $2,000 annual sponsor level, the logo of the sponsor will be placed on a "Sponsor" section (right side of the screen), that will be shown on all web pages of FresnoArts. Details of other advertisement opportunities will be provided later or you may e-mail us at: marketing@fresnoartscouncil.org.

SIGN UP TIPS

1. IMPORTANT: When signing-up, please make sure that when you enter your password, it is more than 8 characters long.

2. Please share a photo of yourself or your artwork on your profile (during sign-up or through "My Settings") so that we know who you are. If you do not have a photo, you will be considered a "regular user" and your profile won't be listed under "Artists Profiles" (the upcoming redesign will replace the "Members" link on the navigation with "Artists Profiles").

TERMS OF MEMBERSHIP

By joining FresnoArts Community (this website) you agree to the following rules:

1. To maintain membership in this network, you have to be an artists, an art events promoter (e.g. staff member of museum/opera), or a person affiliated with the arts (i.e. arts teacher, a gallery owner, friends/family of artists). The webmaster reserves the right to ban anyone from this network if there is reason to believe that the member is not affiliated with the arts. If you are applying for membership for the first time, please edit your profile page with a brief professional background and post some of your artwork if possible.

2. Artwork/photos/videos that are to be uploaded should NOT contain any nudity (pornographic, sensual, or erotic), violent, or offensive material. There are other websites for that.

3. You will not engage in any form of spamming activities, which could include, but not limited to, posting unsolicited comments in members' profiles promoting

  • specific activities and/or events (there is a section for that --- aptly called events),
  • commercial services (use your own blog and members will read it if it has value),
  • any advertisements that could be construed as spam (you might not think it's spam, but others might so use the forum instead),
  • non-constructive feedback to other's artwork or offensive articles/blogs directed to a particular group or person.

To summarize, if you are announcing something, do not announce it in each member's profiles. Use the site features: events, blogs, forums, and/or private messages to your friends list.

4. No illegal content (photos that violate copyrights or were posted without permission from the original owner) should be posted.

5. Please upload photos with a maximum width of 1024 pixels and a maximum height of 768 pixels. This should be big enough for most of the people in the world that browse the internet at only 1024 pixels wide.

The webmaster reserves the right to remove any image for any reason whatsoever. Specifically, any image uploaded that is pornographic in nature, infringes upon copyrights not held by the member, is illegal or violates any laws, will be immediately deleted.

COPYRIGHT AND FAIR USE

Artworks posted in this website are the properties of their respective owners. Please respect them; do not use, manipulate, nor re-purpose electronic content into another website without the expressed written consent or permission from the artist. Yes, you have the fair use doctrine, but please be courteous and ask for permission first.
