Workshop with Margaretta Mitchell
The Personal Photographic Project; YOU on paper
Developing your own photographic vision is a life-long process, but it can be advanced by an intensive day studying the personal project, which is a vision realized in imagery. What is your point of view? your signature style? We will address this subject by looking at a portfolio of photographic prints that you bring for discussion and critique. Bring 20-30 prints up to 8X10 in size to lay out and sequence. (We cannot do this process without prints. Please do not bring a laptop and show a slideshow on the computer.) We want to work with the editing process as you would if you set out to make an exhibition or a book. Whether you are just beginning to “see” with the camera, or are finally putting together a body of work, we will strive to figure out how to make your photography work for your life, and to bring life into your imagery and your vision into focus. Maybe we will find the narrative in your imagery and those themes that work visually.
Also, we will look at examples of projects completed and works from the history of photography in the original. This is not a workshop for making new imagery on site but it will inspire you to go out and do more wonderful, more expressive work.
Any subject matter is fine. This is a day about seeing, awareness and inspiration.
